Obverse description Central field features the crowned Imperial Austrian coat of arms, a quartered shield displaying the arms of Austria and Burgundy, supported by decorative foliate scrollwork on either side. The imperial crown surmounts the shield, rendered in high relief with detailed finwork. A circular legend surrounds the design, reading FRANC II D G R I S A H B REX A A M B, abbreviated titles identifying Emperor Francis II as Holy Roman Emperor and Archduke of Austria. The coin's milled border frames the composition with a regular dentilated rim. The overall style reflects the restrained neoclassical engraving conventions of the Habsburg imperial coinage of the early nineteenth century.
