The heraldic charges include the eagle of Jülich-Cleves, the chequy of Ravensberg, and the chevron device in the lower quarter. A Latin circumscription runs around the periphery of the coin, interrupted by the shield. The overall style is characteristic of early seventeenth-century German hammered minor coinage.

A Latin legend encircles the orb, with the date incorporated at the end of the inscription. The field is plain and the coin's irregular flan is typical of hammered billon issues of the period.
