The orb itself bears a horizontal band encircling its lower hemisphere, denoting the denominational value. The lozenge frame is decorated with foliate or scroll ornaments at the four points, filling the coin's field with an elegant baroque decorative scheme characteristic of 18th-century German minor coinage. |

Anselm Francis of Ingelheim ruled the Prince-Bishopric of Würzburg from 1746 until his death in 1749 — a reign of barely three years. The Körtling, a minor silver denomination with roots in medieval north German usage, had by the mid-eighteenth century become something of an anachronism in Franconian coinage, and issues under Anselm Francis are among the last of the type from this see.
