| Reverse description | Within a beaded inner circle, the full-length frontal figure of St. Stephen, patron saint of Halberstadt Cathedral, shown nimbed and vested in episcopal robes, holding a palm frond in his right hand and a stone (his attribute as protomartyr) in his left. The date appears in the lower portion of the field below the saint's feet. A circular Latin legend surrounds the figure along the outer rim, invoking the saint's name. The style is typical of hammered silver coinage of the Reformation era in the Harz region. |
