| Obverse description | Central field occupied by the quartered arms of the Bishopric of Hildesheim, displaying the characteristic divided escutcheon with a cross and diagonal banding in the lower quarters, surmounted by a episcopal mitre above the shield. Two small lions or heraldic supporters flank the upper portion of the arms. The entire armorial composition is enclosed within an inner beaded circle, with the circumferential legend MONETA NOVA HILDESE running in Gothic lettering around the periphery between the inner and outer beaded borders. |
