Amatőrök Forgalmi Szövetkezete — roughly, the Amateurs' Trading Cooperative — was one of dozens of Budapest civil and commercial associations that issued small-denomination scrip during the acute coin shortage that gripped Hungary in 1920. The postwar disintegration of the Habsburg monetary system and the subsequent hyperinflationary pressures on the new Hungarian korona left virtually no small change in circulation; private bodies stepped in to fill the gap. These emergency notes, collectively cataloged under Adamo's MSZK series, were technically illegal under state monetary law but tolerated out of practical necessity.
The BUC-8.4.1 designation places this within a broader Budapest municipal scrip grouping.
