The inscription reads 'Badshah Ghazi Muhammad Akbar sikka, zarb Bhuj', identifying the Mughal emperor Muhammad Akbar Shah II as the nominal sovereign and recording the mint city of Bhuj. The lettering is boldly struck in relief, typical of the hammered coinage tradition of Indian princely states in the early nineteenth century. No figural devices or additional ornaments are present, the entire design being devoted to the calligraphic royal titulature. |
