| Obverse description | Central design features a trident flanked by a crescent and dagger, with the Vikram Samvat date inscribed below, all contained within a beaded inner circle. The outer margin bears a Devanagari legend reading the name and title of Maharao Shri Khengarji of Kutch Bhuj. | Additional information |
Kutch retained the unusual right to strike silver coinage in the ruler's own name well into the twentieth century, a privilege most Indian princely states had lost or surrendered under British paramountcy. The 1 Kori issues of this period bear both the local ruler Khengarji III and the British sovereign — an arrangement that required renegotiation with the Crown following George V's death in 1936, accounting for the delayed start of this type.
The .601 fineness is specific to Kutch's long-established coinage standard, not a British imperial specification.
