| 背面描述 | The numeral 1 is prominently displayed in the center of the field, flanked on either side by a tall oil derrick with associated platform infrastructure rendered in fine detail, symbolizing Nigeria's petroleum industry. The word KOBO appears in a curved legend along the lower periphery in sans-serif lettering. The field is otherwise plain, with no additional ornamentation. |

The 1 Kobo was introduced as part of Nigeria's decimal currency system adopted in 1973, replacing the pre-decimal Pound at a rate of 100 Kobo to 1 Naira. By the late 1980s, inflation had so eroded the Kobo's purchasing power that these final bronze issues were largely ignored in everyday commerce — a denomination effectively dead on arrival. The 1987–1988 dates represent the last years bronze was used for this value before the series was discontinued entirely.
