Obverse description Central ornate oval cartouche bearing the quartered arms of Salzburg (top) and the Hohenems family (bottom), surmounted by an archiepiscopal cross and a cardinal's hat with pendant tassels. The divided date appears at the upper field, flanking the top of the shield. A circular Latin legend surrounds the composition, commencing at approximately 2 o'clock. The die-work reflects the elaborate baroque heraldic style characteristic of early seventeenth-century Salzburg coinage.
