| Reverse description | Depicts the enthroned figure of Saint Rupert, patron saint of Salzburg, shown facing front in full episcopal vestments including mitre and cope, holding a crozier in his right hand and a model of a church or salt container in his left. The saint is seated upon a throne or bench, with decorative heraldic shields flanking the base of the composition. A circular beaded border encloses the figure, with the Latin legend SANCTVS RVDBERTVS EPS SALZBVR running along the periphery, identifying the saint as Bishop of Salzburg. The design is rendered in the late Renaissance style typical of Salzburg klippe coinage of the mid-sixteenth century. |
