| 裏面の説明 | Reverse struck on an irregular copper flan, displaying Devanagari akshara legend in bold, deeply incuse characters occupying the central field. The inscription reads 'Cha' and 'Lama' in Devanagari script, rendered in the crude but legible style characteristic of Nayaka copper kasu issues. The characters are arranged vertically within a roughly defined border, with the surrounding field showing the granular, heavily oxidized surface typical of hammered South Indian base-metal coinage of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. |

The Nayakas of Gingee were a Telugu warrior dynasty installed as governors under the Vijayanagara Empire, who effectively ruled autonomously following the empire's collapse after the Battle of Talikota in 1565. Their coinage reflects that transitional authority — local production for local exchange, issued across a period when the political map of the Deccan was being redrawn repeatedly by the Bijapur Sultanate, Maratha forces, and Mughal pressure from the north. Gingee itself would fall to Bijapur in 1649, which likely marks the terminal point of this type's production.
