The anonymous kasu issues of Mysore span one of the most turbulent centuries in the kingdom's history — from the reign of Kanthirava Narasaraja Wadiyar through the period when the Wadiyar dynasty's actual power was progressively eclipsed by their own military commanders, culminating in Hyder Ali's effective seizure of control by the late 1750s. Attributing specific strikes within this series to individual reigns remains difficult precisely because the issues were anonymous by design, likely a deliberate administrative choice that allowed continuity of coinage across political disruptions without requiring new dies.
