Obverse description A bold plain cross with expanded arms set within a central inner circle, occupying the majority of the field. The cross divides the inner field into four quadrants, each plain. Surrounding the inner circle is a circular Armenian legend reading from left to right, separated by a cross-pommee stop. The design is characteristic of the bold, simplified heraldic style of Cilician Armenian hammered coinage of the late 13th century.
