| Opis awersu | King Leo I (Levon I) depicted seated cross-legged on the ground in oriental fashion, facing forward, crowned and robed in royal garments. The king holds a fleur-de-lis scepter in his right hand and an orb or globus cruciger in his left, symbols of sovereign authority. Armenian legends appear in the fields to the left and right of the royal figure. The style reflects the blending of Byzantine and Crusader artistic traditions characteristic of Cilician Armenian coinage. |

| Opis rewersu | A bold floriated or patriarchal cross occupies the central field, with Armenian inscriptions disposed in the quarters or around the arms of the cross. The cross is rendered in a bold, linear style typical of hammered Armenian copper coinage of the early 13th century. The legends, partially legible due to the irregular flan and surface encrustation, reference the royal title and kingdom of Armenian Cilicia. The design is contained within a plain border on an irregularly shaped flan exhibiting characteristic die misalignment. |
