| Beschrijving keerzijde | King Hetoum I depicted seated cross-legged on a throne, rendered in a flat, schematic style typical of Cilician Armenian copper coinage. The monarch holds a sceptre or symbol of authority and is shown in frontal orientation with legs crossed beneath him. An Armenian inscription occupies the surrounding field and margin, identifying the ruler and his title. A border of pellets or short radial lines frames the design along the coin's irregular periphery. The bold but crude execution reflects the utilitarian nature of this low-denomination copper issue. |
