Obverse description Hammered square billon jital of the Khalji Dynasty, struck during the reign of Qutb ud-Din Mubarak Shah (r. 1316–1320). The obverse field carries a multi-line Arabic legend in Naskh script, reading 'Al-Imam al-A'zam Qutb al-Dunya wa al-Din,' affirming the sultan's claim to supreme religious and temporal authority. The inscription is arranged in horizontal registers across the flat, irregularly trimmed flan, typical of Delhi Sultanate hammered coinage. The surface shows characteristic red and green patination consistent with billon alloy oxidation over centuries.
