The Tomara rulers of Delhi issued coins in the name of Madana Pala long after the dynasty had effectively ceased to exist as a political force — the Tomaras having been displaced by the Chahamanas of Shakambhari by the mid-twelfth century. This posthumous series continued circulating in the Delhi region as a trusted local currency type, the name carrying residual commercial authority even after the issuing dynasty had collapsed. Tye 53 is among the more commonly encountered types of this posthumous run, suggesting sustained local minting over several generations.
