Reverse description Reverse of this irregular hammered billon jital displays a schematic equestrian or symbolic device at centre, flanked by further Devanagari legend disposed around the field. The motifs are rendered in the highly stylised, cursive manner characteristic of Chauhan dynastic coinage of the late twelfth century. A circular or ovoid symbol, possibly a bull or decorative medallion, appears in the lower left quadrant. The flan edge is ragged and uneven, typical of the hand-cut planchets used at provincial northern Indian mints of this period.
