Additional information

The 1 Jiao of Xuantong's reign was produced just a year before the Wuchang Uprising ended over two millennia of imperial rule. The Qing government had been attempting to rationalize and centralize coinage since the late 19th century, wresting production from provincial mints that had long operated with near-total autonomy — this issue reflects that push toward standardization under a dying dynasty.

Xuantong reigned for only three years. Most silver from this period disappeared into melting pots during the monetary chaos of the early Republic.
