| Obverse description | Central field bearing a multi-line inscription in Devanagari (Nagari) script reading 'Raja Gulab Singh', the name and title of the ruling maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir, rendered in raised relief across the flan. The legends are bold and fill the field in a characteristic hammered style typical of Dogra-period coinage. A small hole is visible near the upper rim, consistent with post-mint piercing for use as an ornament or amulet. |
