Obverse description The obverse displays the name of Milan divided across three horizontal bands separated by double lines, reading ME / DIO / LA / NVM in uncial Latin letters, a layout characteristic of Milanese imperial denari. The legend is arranged in a boustrophedon-style across the flan, with the city name split syllabically across the registers. Trefoil or rosette stops appear above and below the central inscription field. The flan is irregular and slightly ragged at the edges, consistent with hammered coinage of the period. The overall design is purely epigraphic, with no figurative elements.
