| Obverse description | Central field features a crowned lion passant, the traditional heraldic emblem of Norway, rendered in low relief in the Gothic hammered style characteristic of late medieval Scandinavian coinage. The lion is depicted rearing and facing left, surmounted by a prominent crown. The device is enclosed within a beaded inner ring, beyond which the royal legend runs in uncial Latin characters. The coin's irregular flan and variable strike are typical of hand-hammered production of the period. |
