| Beschrijving keerzijde | A large Gothic letter G, the initial of Archbishop Gaute Ivarsson (1474–1510), occupies the central field within a beaded inner circle surmounted by a crown. This monogram serves as the primary identifying device of the issuing archbishop. The surrounding legend in uncial Latin lettering reads MO AREPI NIDRO, an abbreviated form of Moneta Archiepiscopi Nidrosiensis, denoting the monetary authority of the Archbishop of Nidaros. The reverse design is characteristic of late medieval ecclesiastical coinage from the Nidaros mint, with bold but somewhat irregular strike typical of hand-hammered production. |
