The shield is rendered in the medieval Gothic style typical of Gotlandic coinage of the mid-to-late fifteenth century. The surrounding inscription runs continuously around the periphery of the flan. The overall strike is characteristic of hand-hammered production, resulting in some weakness and irregularity across the surface. |
