Volodymyr is credited with uniting the Eastern Slavic lands under Kyiv's dominion and initiating the Christianization of Rus in 988–989. The inscription НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ arcs above, with the denomination ОДНА ГРИВНЯ and the subject's name ВОЛОДИМИР ВЕЛИКИЙ appearing alongside the numeral 1. |
