| Obverse description | The obverse features a large imperial crown rendered in fine relief at the center of the field, its arches and cross surmount prominent above a hatched band and decorative battlements. Two flowing ribbon scrolls emerge from beneath the crown on either side, curling outward symmetrically. The circular legend DEUTSCH OSTAFRIKA arcs around the upper portion of the coin, while the date 1908 appears in the lower field flanked by small decorative star stops. |
