Albert IV of Bavaria died in March 1508, having spent much of his final decade consolidating Wittelsbach territorial holdings and pushing through the Primogeniturgesetz of 1506 — the succession law that would shape Bavarian dynastic politics for centuries. This tiny silver piece belongs to the last full minting years of his reign. The "Vierschlag" designation refers to the four-at-a-time striking technique used for these fractional pfennigs, a production method that accounts for the characteristic irregular flans collectors routinely encounter with this type.
