Ulrich of Nussdorf served as Bishop of Passau from 1460 to 1479, a tenure defined largely by jurisdictional conflicts with the Habsburg dukes over episcopal revenues and minting rights along the Inn and Danube corridors. The Passau heller issues of this period are among the smallest silver denominations struck by any ecclesiastical authority in the Holy Roman Empire — production was expensive relative to face value, and most examples circulated into near-illegibility before leaving the region.
Kelln Pas#51 is a recognized rarity within the Passau episcopal sequence, with surviving examples concentrated in a handful of Austrian and Bavarian institutional collections.
