Obverse description The wolf of Passau, the heraldic beast of the bishopric, depicted in profile facing left in a walking or passant pose. The figure is rendered in a crude but characteristic medieval hammered style typical of small Heller coinage. The design occupies the majority of the roughly square flan, with the animal's body and legs clearly articulated. No legend is present, the design filling the field without a formal border.
