Obverse description Central device consists of the Frankfurt eagle displayed, with wings spread and head facing sinister, surmounted by a small crown; the bird's feathers are rendered in fine detail with individually engraved plumage. The legend is divided above and below the eagle, reading 'F. STADT' in the upper field and 'FRANKFURT' along the lower periphery, both in raised serif capitals. The coin exhibits a milled border of fine beading encircling the entire design. The overall style is characteristic of early nineteenth-century German municipal coinage, with a clean, well-struck field.
