Obverse description Within an octagonal flan, a large pine cone displayed upright at centre — the civic symbol of Augsburg — enclosed within an ornate cartouche of symmetrical scrollwork and foliate arabesques that fill the field. The date appears in small numerals at the base of the cartouche. The overall design is finely engraved in the baroque manner characteristic of Augsburg mint work of the mid-eighteenth century.
