| Obverse description | The Augsburg pine cone (Pyr), the city's heraldic symbol, depicted upright within an ornate scrollwork cartouche set on a decorative pedestal. The date 1740 is divided by the cartouche, with '17' to the left and '40' to the right. The design fills the octagonal flan, with elegant foliate scrollwork extending to the borders. No legend is present; the pine cone alone serves as the civic emblem of the Free City of Augsburg. |
