These heller were struck in the immediate aftermath of the Seven Years' War, a conflict that had left Habsburg finances in ruins and the copper coinage in particular short-changed by years of wartime recoinage and debasement. Maria Theresia's monetary reforms of the early 1760s attempted to stabilize the fractional copper series, though the heller's purchasing power was so negligible by this point that many circulated until they were barely legible. The three-year window of production reflects the brief life of this specific monetary ordinance before further reform superseded it.
