| Obverse description | The crowned arms of Hesse-Darmstadt occupy the central field, depicting the quartered escutcheon with the Hessian lion rampant on horizontally lined ground, surmounted by a grand ducal crown with arched bands and prominent orb finial. A fine beaded border frames the entire design.
