Obverse description The Bavarian royal coat of arms, quartered with the lozengy pattern of Bavaria and the lion passant of the Palatinate, surmounted by a royal crown, is centrally displayed within an ornate wreath of oak branches tied at the base with a ribbon bow. The shield is rendered in fine relief with strong heraldic detail. The entire design is contained within a beaded border.
