| Obverse description | Concave hollow-struck (Hohlpfennig) uniface design displaying two crossed swords in saltire, their blades meeting at center, representing the electoral swords of Saxony. A five-pointed star appears at the top of the field above the crossed swords. The design is contained within a plain raised border following the irregular round flan, characteristic of the thin, cup-shaped bracteate-style Hohlheller coinage of mid-sixteenth century Saxony. The date elements '4 8' (representing 1548) are incorporated into the field. |
