Obverse description The Augsburg pine cone heraldic device, mounted on a decorative pedestal, is depicted prominently at center, with the date divided to either side: '16' to the left and '08' to the right of the pine cone. The entire central device is enclosed within a finely rendered wreath of stylized oak leaves, which encircles the full field of the coin. The design is rendered in a bold, low-relief hammered style characteristic of early seventeenth-century German municipal coinage.
