Obverse description Central field displays the crowned Saxon arms — a horizontally barry shield surmounted by a ducal crown — flanked symmetrically on either side by outward-spreading palm branches whose fronds curve gracefully toward the coin's edge. The shield bears the distinctive alternating horizontal bars of the Wettin dynasty. The composition is tightly contained within a plain inner border, with a fine beaded or milled rim encircling the entire obverse.

Reverse description Five-line inscription in bold upright Latin lettering occupies the central field, reading the denomination and issuing territory, with the date in Arabic numerals on the lowest line. A small crown or floral ornament appears above the first line of text, and a small rosette or decorative stop flanks the upper right. The denomination legend reads '1 SAALFELDER HELLER' distributed across the lines, with the date below. A beaded inner border and milled outer rim frame the reverse.
