Obverse description Central field displays the crowned arms of Saxe-Meiningen, comprising the quartered Saxon coat of arms with the distinctive barry of ten or and sable with a crancelin (ruta crown) in bend sinister, enclosed within an ornamental cartouche. The ducal crown surmounts the shield, and the overall composition is rendered in a bold, slightly crude style typical of small copper coinage of the early eighteenth century German states. The field is plain with no surrounding legend, and the coin exhibits a heavily worn, patinated copper surface with areas of verdigris.

Reverse description The reverse bears a four-line Latin inscription in the central field reading '1 / MEINING / HELLER / 1742', denoting the denomination and issuing authority of Meiningen, with the date at the foot. The lettering is rendered in an upright Roman typeface of moderate relief. A toothed or milled inner border frames the inscription, and the plain field shows considerable wear and green patination consistent with prolonged circulation.
