| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse displays the denomination numeral '1' in large raised figures occupying the left and lower-centre of the field, with the currency name 'haltna' inscribed in bold lowercase Latin lettering across the upper portion of the field. To the right of the numeral, the heraldic shield of Houten municipality is depicted in raised relief, divided into quarters featuring battlemented rows and horizontal barry elements. Two small mint marks appear at the base of the field flanking the numeral, consistent with Royal Dutch Mint production. A raised rim borders the entire reverse. |

Houten, a planned municipality southeast of Utrecht, sits directly atop the Roman limes — the frontier fortification line along the Rhine. The 1997 "Romeinenjaar" (Roman Year) celebrated archaeological findings from that defensive boundary, including remnants of the castellum at what is now Vechten, barely two kilometers from the modern town center.
