Issued under the socialist republic, this tiny aluminium piece had a face value so negligible that by the 1970s it functioned primarily as a rounding unit rather than a coin anyone meaningfully spent. Czechoslovakia retained it in circulation for over two decades largely out of pricing convention — the centrally planned economy required exact kopek-level accounting that made outright abolition administratively inconvenient rather than economically justified.
