Obverse description Printed in red on buff paper, the face carries a central vignette of junks at left and a lighthouse at right, framed by a simple geometric border. The bank name appears in a black overprint across the top, with the denomination numeral in the corners. A black serial number is printed at the bottom of the note.

Reverse description Printed in red on buff paper, the reverse carries a central vignette of laborers or soldiers in a landscape scene, set within a rectangular frame with vertical rule borders at each side and denomination numerals '1' in all four corners. The date '1944' appears in red at the bottom center, flanked by two square black overprint seals bearing Chinese characters. 'I GYO' is inscribed in large letters at the top center.
