Obverse description Full-length facing effigy of King Gustav Vasa standing in regal attire, wearing an open crown, draped in a long mantle or royal robe, holding a sceptre in his right hand and an orb or sword in his left. The figure stands upon a heraldic shield at the base of the field. The portrait is rendered in the bold, archaic hammered style characteristic of early sixteenth-century Swedish coinage. A circular Latin legend reading GOSTAVS * D * G * SV ECORVM * REX surrounds the effigy within a beaded inner border.
