Victor II Friedrich ruled Anhalt-Bernburg for barely two years before his death in 1765, but this small billon piece dates to the opening of his reign when the principality was still navigating the fiscal pressures of the War of Austrian Succession. The Guter Pfennig denomination — "good penny" — was a deliberate distinction from debased copper issues circulating in neighboring territories, though the billon content here is modest at best.
The two-year window of 1744–45 keeps surviving examples relatively scarce.
