Obverse description Draped bust of Archbishop Matthäus Lang von Wellenburg facing left, wearing a flat-topped barrette hat and ecclesiastical robes, set within a beaded inner circle. The Roman numeral date M·D·XXII is divided by the bust across the field. The surrounding legend reads + MATHEVS CARDI ARCHIEPS SALZBVRGN MDXXII, with heraldic shields flanking the top of the portrait. The overall style is characteristic of early sixteenth-century South German Renaissance portraiture in high relief.
