| Obverse description | The city arms of Freiburg im Breisgau are depicted at center: the heraldic eagle of the city, rendered with finely detailed feather work, facing left with wings partially spread, set within a beaded inner circle. The circumferential legend in Latin reads MO. NO. CIVITATIS. FRIBVRGENSIS BRI. with the date of issue, separated by decorative stops. The overall die-work reflects the robust hammered craftsmanship typical of south German municipal coinage of the mid-sixteenth century. |
