正面描述 The city arms of Breisach — a stylised fleur-de-lis or budded cross motif — displayed within an ornate cartouche of scrolling strapwork, the date appearing above the shield within the inner field. The design is enclosed by a beaded inner border, with the circular Latin legend running between the border and the coin's outer rim.

背面描述 A heraldic imperial eagle with wings displayed, head turned to the left, rendered in bold relief within a beaded inner border. The eagle's talons grasp a sceptre-like device at the base of the field. The circumferential Latin legend, separated by mullet stops, runs between the beaded border and the outer rim, serving as a civic and devotional inscription.

附加信息

Breisach's guldiners of this period were struck during some of the most turbulent decades in Upper Rhine politics, as the city navigated competing pressures from the Habsburgs — who had formally taken control of the city in 1198 and retained it as a strategically vital Rhine crossing — and the mounting disruptions of the Reformation sweeping through neighboring territories. The guldiner itself as a denomination had been pioneered in the Tyrol in the 1480s, and by the mid-sixteenth century municipal mints like Breisach were adapting the large silver format to local civic and commercial needs.

The Davenport reference SG#8971 places this squarely within the south German city coinage tradition rather than the imperial series.
