| Aanvullende informatie |
George Frederick I inherited Brandenburg-Franconia as a minor in 1536 and governed under regency until 1557, eventually consolidating control over both the Ansbach and Kulmbach lines after his cousin Albert Alcibiades burned half the Franconian countryside during the Second Margrave War and died in exile. The Guldenthaler denomination itself was a deliberate attempt by German territorial princes to issue a large silver coin competitive with the Joachimsthaler, struck to a slightly heavier standard than the later Reichsthaler codified at the 1566 Imperial Diet.
The nine-year span of this type reflects continuous production rather than a single emission — Dav SG#10 encompasses multiple die marriages across both Schwabach and the Ansbach mint.
