George Frederick I of Brandenburg-Ansbach held Jägerndorf — a Silesian duchy he had governed since 1543 — under constant jurisdictional tension with the Habsburgs, who never fully accepted Hohenzollern control over Silesian territories. The guldenthaler at 60 kreuzer was itself a transitional denomination, an attempt to reconcile the thaler standard with the kreuzer-based accounting of southern German commerce. These pieces circulated across a monetary border.
The Davenport SG#68 attribution places this among the smaller Silesian princely issues of the period, with relatively modest surviving populations. George Frederick eventually lost Jägerndorf's succession line when the Habsburgs confiscated the duchy in 1621 following the Battle of White Mountain.
